What's New with Versiv Version 4.6 Build 2?

We repeatedly try to drive home the need to keep your tester up to date with the latest firmware, and for good reason. Not only do we want to make sure you don't miss out on the latest features that can help you test faster and more accurately, but as standards change, so must your tester.

Earlier this year, we released a significant code update--Version 4.5 Build 2--for the Versiv platform that includes the DSX-5000 CableAnalyzer, CertiFiber Pro, OptiFiber Pro and the FI-7000 FiberInspector Pro.

From a standards perspective, Version 4.5 Build 2 was a significant Versiv release because TIA-568-C fiber limits were replaced with TIA-568.3-D fiber limits for multimode and singlemode fiber. The release also enabled the new Asset Management feature in LinkWare Live that shows the location of the Versiv unit the last time it connected to LinkWare Live--something we've been talking about for a while now.

Now just a few months later, we have released Version 4.6 Build 2. Let's take a closer look at what's new.

Ask and Thee Shall Receive

While the new asset management functionality in LinkWare Live is a big hit with those who need to find a misplaced tester and make sure all testers are ready to test, there were some requests to let users of the Versiv unit know whether the account owner has enabled the tracking feature.

Whether this request is to prevent users from connecting to LinkWare Live at improper locations, or just to keep them on their toes, we listened. The latest Version 4.6 Build 2 therefore adds a little icon to the top of the screen to indicate that asset tracking has been turned on.

And if you tap the little icon, you'll see a screen that says "ASSET TRACKING IS ON" along with a statement that the user acknowledges the monitoring of the tool's location as described in the Fluke Privacy Policy and as enabled by your company. It even tells you to contact your supervisor if you have any questions.

So if you see this icon on your screen, know that when you connect to LinkWare Live your tester can be located.

Faster is Always Better

With the Versiv Version 4.6 Build 2 release, we also took the opportunity to improve the patch cord certification times. So if you are performing component patch cord certification in the field to ensure quality and compliance, this is a must have release.

Using Fluke Networks' DTX-PCXX Patch Cord Test Adapters, you can now certify Category 6A patch cords in about 12 seconds and Category 6 and Category 5e patch cords in about 10 seconds. This is a 33% improvement in patch cord certification time!
