OMNIScanner is showing "COS Task 0001 error"

The last OMNIScanner left the factory back in July 2005. We regret to say service and support ended July 2009. It's replaced by the Versiv familly of testers.
 
If you have stored tests that you do not need, you can reflash the OMNIScanner as described below.
 
Sanitizing the OMNIScanner 
The OMNIScanner may need to be "sanitized", which can be accomplished via the following steps:
 
To set reflash: 
  • While the OMNIScanner is turned off and the battery is removed, press and hold the Autotest and Enter buttons, then plug the unit into AC power followed by pressing the On/Off button. You will receive a "Waiting for Reflash" message in the middle of the screen. Release the buttons.

Begin the reflash: 

  • Run the OMNIScanner Update Utility on the PC.

  • When the 'Transferring Data' line shows up on the PC screen from running the OMNIScanner Update Utility application, pull the power to the OMNI and press Ctrl C on your keyboard to exit out of the OMNIScanner Update Utility application.


Begin the reflash again:

After the reflash/upgrade is completed, you will need to change the factory defaults, such as language preference etc.
