Measuring Power with the Simplifiber

Auf Deutsch

The SimpliFiber Meter can be used to measure power from an active piece of equipment. It can be set to measure power at 850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths.

When measuring Power, the overall power is reported. It is used to quickly verify cabling and equipment problems.

The SimpliFiber will need to be connected to the equipment using the correct type of fiber patch cords (Multimode or Single Mode).

To measure the power, connect the SimpliFiber Meter to the appropriate SimpliFiber light source (850/1300/1310/1550). Set the reference using the appropriate fiber type (multimode or singlemode).

Simplifiber Meter and Simplifiber Light Source Connection

Once the Reference has been set, disconnect the fiber from the SimpliFiber Light Source.

Connect the fiber to the equipment that you will be measuring the power output on.

Power Output Measurement

Press the Shift/Ref button Shift Ref Button  and then the Lambda/dB/m button Lambda DB M Button to change the units from dB to dBm.

The SimpliFiber will immediately display the overall power in dBm.
