Setting the number of adapters/splices with the DSP-FTA

You must first select a standard in the SETUP which is based on how many adapters and splices you have. An example is shown below.

There are a number of standards in the SETUP which use a fixed value. The one that trips most people up is TIA 568B Horiz FTA410/20. The TIA has defined 2 dB as a maximum loss for the horizontal portion of the fiber system and so there is no need to put in the number of adapters. When this sort of standard is selected, you will see N/A appear as shown below.
